Take me out to the ballgame...

Well, we didn't actually go to the baseball game, but we went to the parade! Opening Day for the Red's is one of the most celebrated holidays in Cincinnati. I love it because it means warmer weather is just around the corner... This is our second parade this month and Dominic enjoyed this one much more than the last one.

Dominic's favorite part was the police motorcycles. He gave them a good squel at the end of their "performance":

A visit to my hometown...

This weekend my mom and I took Dominic to my hometown to visit our friends there.

I have to show off the fruit flower centerpiece and the beautiful shower cookies they had for our shower. Everything was handmade by my mom's wonderful friends.

We had the most amazing host and hostess for the weekend (Thanks again, Tom and Doreen!) - they always make us feel like we're at home.

Thank you all for coming and all the wonderful gifts for Dominic! It was so good to see everyone and we had such a good time during our visit!

Exhausted...

Dominic was exhausted after 1/2 day at daycare today and fell asleep in his jumping chair while I was doing laundry.

He screamed again when I left him this morning and cried when I returned. I stayed while he ate lunch and as long as he could see me, he was fine. I forgot to sign him out, so we had to go back into his room before we left and he started the saddest little whimper. :(

Hopefully we'll get settled in before I return to work full time.

Easter Weekend!

We had a great weekend at Nanny and Papa's. Here are some pics...

Coloring eggs with Adrian and Jacob.

It was cold, so we had the egg hunt indoors in our pajamas.

Dominic liked shaking the eggs to see what was inside of them.

Happy Easter!

Daycare AKA the reason I ate the Reese's eggs at 10am this morning....

Dominic started daycare yesterday. We're easing in very slowly. He stayed for about an hour yesterday and an hour today and he SCREAMED when I left and when I returned. I think he was ok while I was gone, but I spent the whole hour in tears eating my first Reese's Easter Eggs of the season.

I think he'll be ok - me, on the other hand... I think it's a good sign though - the fact that he is upset when I leave shows that he's becoming attached to me.

There were way too many tears for me to even think about my camera. I did, however, get a picture of us on our way the first day. Jacob was with me and was so happy to be able to push Dominic in his stroller!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

We went to the parade on Saturday. Dominic was tired and not overly impressed. We've got another parade coming up in 2 weeks for Opening Day, so we'll give it another try.

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

And may the sun shine warm upon your face.

Already?!?!

video

Somehow, almost overnight, every electric cord, laptop, remote, even the cat now has a bright neon sign that says "PLEASE PULL ME". Within an hour of Dominic figuring out he could crawl, he found the electric cord to the lamp in his room, the cable cord coming out of the wall in the living room and hit his head twice on the tv stand. What's going to happen when he's crawling at full speed?

Dominic is so loved!

The girls at work had a shower for us this week. We had a great time and Dominic enjoyed every second of the attention! They've all been following our journey, humoring me with the hundreds of visit trip pictures and more importantly, covering for me at work while I've been out this year.

My friend, Peg, made this amazing cake. It was so cute, I didn't want to cut it!

Thank you guys so much, not only for the shower, but for the support over the last year!

Laundry...

I had some help with the laundry this weekend -

I have a feeling I'll be posting crawling pics in a week or so!

Dominic has been going around in circles on his belly. Tuesday we went to visit my parent's and within minutes of being there he was up on his knees and rocking!

This is where he usually ends up right now:

We caught up on some reading last week....

This outfit and book were gifts from our good friend, D. Dominic loves to sit in his chair and "read" books.

They end up in his mouth pretty quickly though... :)

Look who's sitting up!

The day before we left Gautemala, Dominic was sitting up about 10 seconds before falling over. Now he can stay up for minutes and play with his toys without falling over! He can't quite get into "position" himself yet, but I don't think it will be too long.

On another positive note, I heard back from the doctor and all Dominic's tests are clear - TB, parasites, bloodwork, etc. We have a few more appts for hearing, eyes and development, but all is well so far!

Also, a second tooth started coming in this weekend!

Snow!

We got quite a bit of snow this weekend. This is one of the things I love about living downtown - it didn't upset my schedule at all! I received a great stroller for Dominic, so we loaded it up and off we went! We were able to visit the post office, pick up pizza for lunch and grabbed a few groceries from Walgreens all within about 30 minutes yesterday with no problems!

I took Dominic outside this morning on the balcony to check it out.

He put it in his mouth immediately!

Still no tooth pic

but these just cracked me up! :)

Could it be?

It was almost like a photographer capturing an elusive species in the jungle. This was as close as I got:

I think Dominic got his first tooth tonight!

We play a game making funny noises with our fingers on our lips and occasionally he'll let me put my finger in his mouth to check out his teeth. Imagine my surprise this evening when I stuck my finger in and felt something very sharp push through! It almost looks like a little slit on the top of his gum - you can't see it in this picture.

Aside from the shower pictures, here are my favorites from the weekend:

Things have been much better the last few days. The screaming is becoming less frequent (maybe it was teething related?) and Dominic and I continue to bond.

I knew he would learn things quickly, but it seems like he does something "new" every day. He gave kisses when he came home, but they seem to be more frequent and are given more freely rather then when requested. Wednesday right before bed he discovered the art of blowing raspberries and various other spit infused noises. Though perhaps rude, I LOVE it! Much better than the screaming! He also has begun "calling" the cat by meowing or whispering something that sounds like "kee-kee". All this in less than 2 weeks!

When I started this process, there is no way I could have imagined a more perfect match. Every day I look at him and think how lucky I am and how amazing things work out in this world.

Dominic's Welcome Home Shower

My sister hosted a Welcome Home Shower for Dominic this weekend and we had a great time! Thank you, Tia Jamie!

Dominic enjoyed visiting with everyone and got some wonderful gifts!

And then THE CAKE. It was really good and since Dominic ate all of my piece, I had to have seconds! ;) He loved both the icing and the actual cake!

The first picture of "Nanny" and all the grandkids -

Dominic loved playing with them and Adrian and Aleshia helped him play with some of his new toys.

Jacob was so excited to be on camera duty during the shower and captured some great shots!

Thank you to everyone for coming! We had a great time and it was so good to see everyone!
